Stories parents wanted to hear when they were worried

Names are changed, outcomes are not. Every story below is a real Orange journey with measured progress.

Speech Therapy + Early Intervention HSR Layout, Bengaluru 7 months

Aarav · 2 years 4 months

What worried us

No words at all, no pointing, and he did not turn when we called his name.

What we did

Hearing was cleared first, then a joint speech and OT assessment. Twice-weekly therapy with a daily 15-minute home routine built around bath time and snack time.

What changed

42 functional words and two-word phrases within 7 months. Now requests, refuses and greets independently.

The first time he said 'amma' and looked at me, I sat on the floor and cried.Aarav's mother
Occupational Therapy · Sensory Integration Whitefield, Bengaluru 9 months

Meera · 4 years

What worried us

Daily meltdowns at the mall, refusing haircuts, and she could not sit for a meal.

What we did

A sensory profile identified vestibular seeking and tactile defensiveness. A structured sensory diet was built into her school day and evening routine.

What changed

Meltdowns dropped from daily to roughly once a month. She now sits through a full family meal and tolerates haircuts.

We stopped avoiding places. We are a family that goes out again.Meera's father
ABA/BT + Special Education Kozhikode, Kerala 11 months

Yusuf · 5 years 6 months

What worried us

The school warned us he could not stay in his seat or follow group instructions.

What we did

Behaviour data was collected in the classroom itself. Sitting tolerance, instruction following and a visual schedule were taught in small steps, with monthly teacher training.

What changed

Sitting tolerance grew from 3 to 25 minutes. He completed the year in mainstream Grade 1 with a shared support plan.

His teacher called us in June — not to complain, but to say he had read a full page aloud.Yusuf's mother
Physiotherapy · Neuromotor Kozhikode, Kerala 8 months

Ananya · 18 months

What worried us

She was not standing or bearing weight and had very low muscle tone.

What we did

Weekly neurodevelopmental physiotherapy with orthotic review, plus a home strengthening programme her grandmother ran twice a day.

What changed

Independent standing at 22 months and independent walking at 26 months.

She walked to the door to meet her father. That was our whole year.Ananya's mother
Psychology · ADHD Management HSR Layout, Bengaluru 6 months

Ishan · 8 years

What worried us

Homework took three hours every night and ended in shouting on both sides.

What we did

Full psychological assessment, executive-function coaching, a chunked homework system and parent behaviour coaching alongside school liaison.

What changed

Homework now takes 45 minutes. Classroom behaviour reports dropped from weekly to none in the last term.

Feeding Therapy Whitefield, Bengaluru 5 months

Zara · 3 years

What worried us

She ate only four foods and gagged on anything with texture.

What we did

A food hierarchy with no pressure, oral-motor work and family mealtimes rebuilt around exposure rather than eating.

What changed

From 4 accepted foods to 23 across all food groups in five months, with weight back on the growth curve.

Mealtimes are no longer a battle. She asks to try things now.Zara's mother
